‘Twas the night before Christmas in a town far away Where our armed forces are on duty – night and day Who think of their parents, children, husbands and wives But fervently pray that they will survive
They
wish to be home to see the joy To hug and kiss ones they hold so dear Who support and love them all through the year When suddenly the stars in the sky turned so bright It seemed like morning, not almost midnight
They peered from their tents and saw with surprise It didn’t seem possible but before their eyes Stood a fat, jolly elf not in his red and white suit But dressed in camouflage with issued combat boots His reindeer had come and so had the elves To thank these brave men and women themselves
They brought no toys, no stockings, nor games No presents, no cookies or striped candy canes They had brought only thanks to our troops far and wide For keeping us safe, though some lived and some died
These brave servicemen deserve more than we ever could give They protect us, our country and serve… so we live Santa saluted them all and thanked them again For what they are doing for their countrymen The elves stood in awe of these armed forces so true And thanked them also for all that they do Santa returned to his sleigh with wishes that all turmoil cease So that people everywhere will have love, hope and peace
