‘Twas weeks before Christmas, I was enjoying my day Taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the bay Frost that had gathered on the docks through the night Now sparkled like diamonds - what a beautiful sight
As I sat there soaking up the rays of the sun I also went over what still had to be done Gifts still to be wrapped, decorations still to be hung Family gatherings and carols to be sung When I saw what approached, all I could think was how Night in Venice was July - how could it be now
But the parade moved slowly with boats of all sizes And each one was decorated, they all could win prizes The first boat was small and carried the elves You could tell how proud they were of themselves For the boat was laden with games and toys That would be given to all the good girls and boys
A boat full of reindeer came into view And they stood there so proudly two by two Their antlers were decorated with bells and bows And in front stood Rudolph with his bright red nose Boats of all colors and sizes sailed by Filled with presents that reached to the sky Lights twinkled; Christmas music filled the air The likes of which there was no compare
The last boat was magical on that cold wintry day It was silver and gold and shaped like a sleigh The skipper was dressed in a red sailor suit With white fur trim and black belt and black boot Was Santa himself, our most favorite elf Looking cheerful and happy - a picture of health Bringing something to others is what he does best From North to South and East to West
He smiled, winked, pointed up to the sky And then I could see and then I knew why Flying so high was a flock of white doves Carrying wishes of joy, hope, peace and love MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
