MANDATORY RECYCLING

In ALL of Cape May County there are local laws concerning recycling as to WHAT and HOW to recycle and also what NOT to recycle. If you have questions concerning days of collection and drop off locations, you can call local offices.

What to Recycle

  • Paper:

    • newspapers

    • magazines

    • junk mail

    • office paper

    • school work paper

    • corrugated cardboard

  • Glass:

    • food bottles and jars

    • beverage bottles and jars

  • Plastic Bottles:

    • food and beverage

    • soap

    • detergent

    • health beauty aid containers that have the recycle symbol imprinted on the bottom

  • Aluminum and Steel (Tin) Cans:

    •  soda

    • beer

    • fruit

    • vegetable

    • pet food

    • other food and beverage cans

    • EMPTY aerosol cans (except paint)

How to Recycle

  • Paper: Place in paper grocery bag, corrugated box or reusable container

    • Do NOT tie paper in bundles

    • Flatten corrugated boxes and place next to container or bag of paper

  • Bottles and Cans: Place these recyclables together in one reusable container marked "RECYCLABLES"

    • Rinse containers and remove caps and lids

    • DO NOT flatten cans or bottles

DO NOT place recyclables in plastic bags
DO set recyclables rain or shine
DO call the CMCMUA (Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority) for FREE recycling stickers for curbside containers  465-9026   Nights and Weekends  465-INFO

Every town in Cape May County provides curbside collection. Call the local Recycling Office for collection day at your location. Most towns also have drop off locations

    • drinking glasses
    • Pyrex
  • Aluminum
    • foil
    • pie plates
    • microwave trays
  • Steel
    • paint cans
    • cans over 2 1/2 gallons
  • Plastic
    • motor oil and charcoal lighter fluid bottles
    • spray bottles/aerosol cans for paint
    • toys
    • tableware
    • straws
    • plastic bags
    • six pack rings
    • laundry baskets
    • storage containers
  • ANY HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
